Whether you’ve stumbled across this website, or one of us has rammed it down your throat whilst violently yelling “LOOK WHAT WE DID!”, you’re probably wondering what on earth this is all about. Well, let me explain.
Firstly, thank you for reading! One of the reasons we do what we do is because we like sharing it with people. So we thought we’d set up a little website so we have somewhere to store, in word form, all of the adventures/shenanigans/bad ideas (delete as appropriate).
Who?
Left to Right: Mick, Mike and Craig after driving to John O’Groats from Land’s End in October 17.
My name is Mike. I’m 28 years old and, like Craig, from near Blackwood, South Wales. Blackwood is know globally for its motorsport heritage. By that I mean, locally, everyone knows it’s the place chavs used to crash their cars through a local branch of Halfords and whizz up and down the local high street every Thursday night. That was, until, the Police stepped in and banned U-Turns either end of the high street between the hours of 7pm and 7am. This worked a treat. Except it didn’t. The local yoof were smarter than they appeared, it seemed. As they figured out that they could merely slam in a handbrake turn at the roundabout 100 yards up the road. So in fact, the genius shown by the local plod increased the affected area. Lovely.
Anyway, I digress.
I’ve known Craig for the past 11 years and we’ve always worked on cars together. We’ve done some clever shit and some stupid shit. Sometimes one, considered the other. Mick we’ve known for the last few years and is very much the “noob” when it comes to cars; driving, breaking and fixing them having only passed his test a couple of years ago. Nonetheless, he’s proven his worth and is now firmly addicted to cheap, shit cars.
Why?
Well, we all like cars. A lot. We like driving them, breaking them and then fixing them again. We like cheap cars. And old cars. Between us, we don’t own a car that’s worth over £1000 and is less than 15 years old.
We also like Road Trips. Whether it’s a couple of hours to collect a car or parts, or a trip to the tippiest tip of Scotland. We will find any excuse for a Road Trip. As such, in early 2017 we decided we’d make a “thing” of it and opted for our first trip to be from South Wales to Land’s End. From there we’d complete the coveted “LEJOG” trip to John O’Groats in Scotland. Then, a quick lap of the North Coast 500 (aka NC500) route around the fabulous Scottish Highlands. A quick stop off for some beers in Edinburgh and back home to Wales. 5 days, 3 cars, 2500 miles and endless laughter. Great.
How?
Well, I’m starting this site in October 2018 a couple of weeks after having returned from a 4 day trip to Europe, including a couple of days at the infamous Nurburgring. We’re planning on doing a similar, perhaps longer trip every year. At least once.
So, here it is. A website for us to share our adventures.
